The signs greeting diners warn of the long wait and the need to pay in cash, but they certainly didn’t scare anyone away. Walk to the back of the Star Fish Company Seafood Market to the restaurant, grab a menu and stand in line to place your order on the dock. Then have a seat and wait for your boxed meal to be delivered.
The wait time doesn’t really matter while sitting at the picnic tables on Sarasota Bay watching the white pelicans dine on their own seafood dinners .
Fried grouper and shrimp, cole slaw, cheese grits, and hush puppies, followed by their famous Key Lime Pie…not a bite left behind, and it’s obvious the Star Fish Company uses the same recipe to make their famous pie that we use at home. Well worth the wait!
Find your way to this old Florida fishing village, just west of Bradenton, and discover a slice of what makes Cortez unique (and don’t forget to get a slice of Key Lime pie as well).
